about us
Join local restaurants in 2018, as we celebrate Richmond for being what it is—a great food town.
Once again there will be two full weeks, April 23-28 and October 22-28. Each time you go out to dinner at participating restaurants during Restaurant Week, you are contributing to the local economy and helping eliminate area hunger through our partnership with The Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.
Area Chefs flex their creativity creating a three-course price fixed menu following some basic guidelines, and offer it up all week for $29.18 per person. This is a great opportunity to enjoy your favorite spot in a new way, and to try new places, because on top of the great dining deal, the restaurants donate $4.18 from each meal to FeedMore, the umbrella organization for the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels. In 2017 alone the event raised over $110,000. That money provides hundreds of thousands of meals for the hungry.
Seventeen years ago Acacia’s Aline Reitzer founded Richmond Restaurant Week when she found herself inundated with donation requests. Turning Richmond Restaurant Week into a win-win, she modeled after Restaurant Weeks in New York and other cities with the addition of the charitable component. The Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels were a natural partner from the beginning because their interest in food aligns closely with the restaurant industry.
To date RRW has raised over $702,192.86, this translates to millions of meals to neighbors in need.
